Optimisation approach to solve the truck loading and delivery problem at long haul distances with heterogeneous products and fleet

This paper proposes a sequential optimisation approach for addressing complex real world problem of dispatch planning and freight loading set highly irregular products with heterogeneous fleet trucks. The focuses on the case goods 'low-density values', varied large travel distances. proposed is based two-phase strategy: first optimises space assignment process inside trucks to each type product. It achieved by minimising long-haul transportation costs as function size capacity, considering predefined feasible efficient solutions or patterns. second phase minimises number visits per truck, assuming fixed capacities product, which determined in stage. was successfully applied rolled steel company Colombia, whose results show that model efficiently addresses analysed problem, reflected reasonable solution times from practical implementation perspective.
